If you want to make your relationship official you can get married or enter into a registered partnership. You and your partner will have rights and obligations towards each other. The municipal authorities register marriages and registered partnerships. In the Netherlands, it is possible for a man and a woman, two men or two women to marry or enter into a registered partnership. If both partners are not Dutch citizens and you both live abroad you may not get married in the Netherlands. You must declare your intention to marry before your intended wedding.
